Moaning Dwarf (Frisket Print) by Markham is a high contrast black on white spray paint work created in 2025. Measuring 24" x 18", this piece is printed on paper and issued as an Artist Proof, AP 1. Each piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The composition features a distorted, masked figure fractured into overlapping forms. Limbs and faces appear cropped, repeated, and partially erased, creating a sense of movement and psychological compression. The jagged teeth and exaggerated facial geometry suggest sound, tension, and agitation rather than a literal figure. This feels closer to a visual outburst than a portrait.
Markham uses frisket printing to push sharp graphic edges against rough spray textures. Heavy black masses collide with exposed white space, giving the image an unbalanced, almost collapsing structure. The figure seems caught between emerging and breaking apart, reinforcing the title’s implication of strain and discomfort.
Moaning Dwarf is confrontational and intentionally unresolved. It is not decorative and does not aim to explain itself. For collectors drawn to raw graphic work, outsider energy, and imagery that leans into distortion and unease, this piece stands as a direct example of Markham’s harsher visual language.
